Having guided hundreds of students through this process over the years, I provide guidance through the development and revision of the college application essay, including a live coaching session and up to two rounds of written feedback as the draft develops.

With more than two decades of experience teaching high school English and over three decades teaching college writing, I’ve worked with students at many different skill levels. My approach is direct, supportive, and clear: helping students clarify their ideas, organize their thoughts, and express themselves with confidence.Whether a student is working on a class essay or preparing a college application, the goal is the same—clearer thinking and stronger writing.Sessions are calm, focused, and practical, designed to help students understand how to improve their writing, not just fix a single assignment. How It Works

Students share the essay prompt, draft, or writing goal.2. Coaching and feedback
We meet for a focused session or I provide written feedback on structure, clarity, and argument (or both). Sessions typically take place over Zoom so we can review drafts together and talk through revisions in real time.3. Clear next steps
Students leave with specific revision strategies and a clearer understanding of how to strengthen their writing.
